Day 1: Enter the Krkonoše Mountains through Vrchlabí and Dolní Dvůr

The gateway to the Krkonoše Mountains is called Vrchlabí. Here, opportunities open up for active tourists and sportsmen looking for activities both in the summer season and, especially, in the winter. There are numerous cross-country ski trails, ski resorts offering experiences for visitors of all ages, a winter stadium, but also a modern swimming area with a large swimming pool and entertainment elements, as well as a network of bike paths.

TIP: Visit the Goat Farm in Rudník. Here they will offer you goat milk, cheese, yoghurt, but also excursions with a programme. Yet the biggest attraction is undoubtedly the goats themselves, of which there are plenty.

The leisure complex Vejsplachy offers many opportunities for sports activities.
In the summer, Vrchlabí attracts visitors with swimming in the pond known as Kačák, which is equipped with changing rooms, outdoor showers, toilets, and refreshments. Near Kačák and Vejsplach, there is also a pump track and a U-ramp for skateboarders. In winter, the complex is perfect for cross-country skiers, offering trails of various lengths suitable for both experienced skiers and beginners.

Take a hike to Dolní Dvůr. It crosses several hiking and cycling trails. You can also connect to nature trails that cross the entire Krkonoše Mountains. From Černý Důl, for example, there is the Around the Quarry trail, where you can learn about the history of limestone mining and local nature. The trail continues through varied meadows and hills with beautiful views of the mountains and valleys.

The picturesque Dolní Dvůr was the location for the filming of the cult ‘With You I'm Entertained by the World’ comedy. Today, however, it is mainly used for sports. For children there is the Elf’s game trip, which leads through the amazing Krkonoše nature and promises spectacular views. Those who are good at searching will also see cartoon signs with animals and plants that grow in the local mountains.
