OUR TIP: Kost Castle

Karlova Koruna

The beautiful castle called Karlova Koruna is located in Chlumec nad Cidlinou. In its chambers you will not only learn about the history of the castle and the Kinský family, but also about the history of horse breeding, horse racing and even about the prestigious Velká pardubická race. An outdoor interactive game for the whole family can be played with a card you get at the castle ticket office. You can also download the TourStories app. You will be guided through the castle by the Choďte si Korunou route. You may recognise the hall from the O vánoční hvězdě fairytale from the picture!

TIP: Refreshments in the beautiful surroundings of the former castle orangery are prepared for you by a local café, where you can stop and enjoy a moment of peace or outdoor seating to enjoy the view of the park.

Chlumec nad Cidlinou

You can play gendarmes and thieves at the Gendarmerie Station in Chlumec nad Cidlinou
Fajn Park Chlumec nad Cidlinou has prepared an entertaining and educational programme for visitors. The many attractions will keep you entertained for the whole day. Here, you can meet giant insects and dinosaurs, ride boats, cars and quad bikes, jump on mega-trampolines or inflatable pillows and, in the summer, go wild on the beach playground. Fajn Park also includes a quiet area with animals – goats, llamas and small kangaroos.

Hrádek u Nechanic

From Chlumec head to Hrádek u Nechanic. The so-called Červený Hrádek is actually a miniature of the castle in Hluboká nad Vltavou. The castle, with its English park and café, is a pleasant place to visit with children or sit in the courtyard. Special costumed tours are organised by the castle at Christmas and Easter, and also in connection with the anniversary of the 1866 Battle of Hradec Králové. You can find the next programme at Hrádek u Nechanic on the castle’s website.

DID YOU KNOW... The Princ a večernice, Fišpánská jablíčka or Elixír a Halíbela fairytales were filmed at Hrádek.

TIP: From Hrádek u Nechanic you can go to the Stuchlíkovi Toy Museum in Nový Bydžov. You can see thousands of dolls, prams, trains and accessories there, and at Christmas time also nativity scenes.

Tips

For this trip, it is best to use a car or public transport. However, you can take a walk at each of the mentioned locations. For example, in Chlumec nad Cidlinou, there is a beautiful château park, and near Hrádek u Nechanic, a large park surrounds the château itself.

Tips on regional products/farms, artisans, etc.:
The Drahoraz fruit-growing farm in Ostroměř grows cherries, apricots and apples that are refreshing and delicious.
